How about spending a couple of hours, half day or a full day aboard a private sailing boat?
Starting from Alcântara Marina, we can adapt our route to your preferences and to the duration of the cruise.
For a 3 hour cruise, we suggest you leave Lisbon’s crowds behind and enjoy the city’s famous sights aboard a beautiful sailboat with a cruise on the Tagus. Featuring wonderful panoramic views, famous monuments that honor the Age of Discovery, and impressively engineered bridges, this is a city tour to remember.
As you sail out from Doca de Santo Amaro into the Tagus river estuary, your eye is caught almost immediately by the striking 25th April bridge and at the right, the Monument to the Discoveries, built to celebrate the region’s rich history of exploring the New World. The crew expertly navigates your craft upriver, taking you beneath the 25th of April Bridge as the dome of the Estrela Basilica in Lisbon’s Old Town comes into view.
Both shores of the river have landmarks to catch your eye: the Castle of Sao Jorge, the statue of Christ the King, and another engineering masterpiece, the Vasco de Gama Bridge. With an on-board guide imparting fascinating historical context, this is a wonderful overview of Lisbon’s grandest sights, all from the comfort of a stunning sailboat.
For a full day (8h) we suggest sailing for example to Cascais, taking the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Estoril coast.
Starting at the Tagus River, we can enjoy the fantastic national monuments in Lisbon and Belém. Then, we set off to Oeiras and the beaches of Carcavelos, Parede, Estoril and Cascais, enjoying the various forts that defended our capital, such as the fantastic Fort do Bugio.
At Cascais, we can anchor, enjoy the sun and swim in the Bay of Cascais.
At the end of the day, we sail back to Alcântara.
If you prefer a half-day cruise, we can go up to Oeiras for some sun bath, dives and who knows a BBQ…
